How to Get Over a Break Up (And Save Your Relationship, if You Want To)

1.  Avoid Rebounding

When you are fresh out of a relationship, remember that there is no good reason to rush right back into another one.  There are a number of problems, some which will be apparent right away, and some which will only appear after a few months, but chances are, you have not recovered to a point where you can comfortably give someone your all.  Put the breaks on, and be polite, but take the time to make sure that your relationships are very straightforward at this point.

2. Connect with Your Friends

Get together with your friends and let them distract you.  You'll find that your friends are a great resource when you are undergoing a breakup; they'll tell you what you want to hear, support you through the worst of it, and then tell you exactly what you need to hear and get you back on track.  They are a resource that you should not underestimate, so take the time to make sure that you are taking them up on those offers of chats and get-togethers.

3. Figure Out What Went Wrong

When you are looking at the shambles of your relationship, you may be confused.  It started so well, and it seems like in no time flat, it fell apart.  It might have felt that way, but the truth is, there is a good chance that there was a lot more than meets the eye.  Take the time to really go over the relationship.  Avoid dwelling, but figure out what went wrong, and what might have saved it, or what would have made it worse.  This can be an extremely valuable thing to do.

4. Get Them Back
